Cider - a cure for depression and old age

Types of cider

Cider is made by fermenting fruit juice. The use of apple juice is considered traditional, but the modern alcoholic beverage market also offers pear, blueberry, raspberry, grapefruit, and even mint or lavender cider. Some formulations provide for natural fermentation of liquids, others - using special cultured yeast. Classic cider is usually a low-alcohol drink. The usual alcohol content in it is 1.5-3%, sometimes up to 5-6%, maximum - 9%. Moreover, the sweeter the drink, the less alcohol it contains.

According to its sweetness, cider is divided into several categories - from dry to sweet.

  • Sweet (soft) cider - the one in the recipe of which the juice of sweet apples is 50% or more; looks like apple juice; the strength of sweet cider is 2 degrees.
  • Cider Brut - cider, in the recipe of which there is more juice of sour apples; an exquisite drink that rivals the best grape wines; the strength of this type of cider is 4-5 degrees.
  • Traditional cider is a strong unfiltered cider with sediment and the smell of fermented apples, the strength is 9 degrees.
  • Ice cider is a cider made from the juice of frozen apples.

The color of cider depends on the composition of its components and makes up the entire palette of known shades. With a weak degree of filtration, the liquid may appear cloudy and form a sediment - this indicates not the poor quality of the drink, but the peculiarities of its production.

Each world-famous drink has its own "philosophy". The "philosophy" of cider is extremely simple - it is a drink for people who value good mood and ease of communication. At the same time, despite the image of a “simple” drink, there are very expensive types of cider in the world, which are in no way inferior in quality and sophistication of taste to the most expensive grape wines.

In the twentieth century, sparkling cider became widespread, which is produced almost like champagne, adding sugar to the bottle at different stages of production and, depending on the recipe, a small amount of cognac or liqueur. Sparkling cider is much more affordable than good champagnes. Interestingly, this type of cider turned out to be more sparkling than the most sparkling wines in the world, because the bubbles in a glass of sparkling cider last much longer than in champagne. Unlike sparkling wines, sparkling cider boasts a variety of fruit flavors and combinations. All this gives new nuances to the traditional taste of cider. Of course, sparkling cider is stronger.

Both types of cider are very popular in the world today - both classic and sparkling.

Despite the fact that the recipes of production differ, the main thing remains: a good cider, quickly raising the mood and filling with fun, does not leave an unpleasant aftertaste, does not "weigh" the head and legs, and in the morning it does not bring any unpleasant hangover consequences. That is why winemakers call it the lightest and youngest drink.

The largest suppliers of cider to the world market today are France, Spain and the United Kingdom. In addition, it is made in a number of other European countries, as well as in the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

The health benefits of cider

Real cider is a very healthy organic drink. With a relatively low calorie content (40-47 kcal per 100 ml of product), cider is rich in carbohydrates, since it contains a small amount of sugar added during the production process.

The beneficial properties of the drink depend on the variety of apples from which it was prepared. When choosing a cider, pay attention to the composition of the drink, the shorter it is, the better the product is in your hands.

Modern research has found phenolic compounds in cider that block the action of free radicals that accelerate the aging process of the body.In addition, moderate consumption of cider prevents the development of many cardiovascular diseases. And also all alcoholic drinks prepared on an apple basis have the ability to lift your mood. It turns out a good cider - it is not only a tasty and light drink, but also a cure for depression and old age!
