Benches in the garden

The Japanese claim that two interlocutors sitting on the same bench have their eyes directed in one direction, and therefore their thoughts soon begin to flow in the same direction. So the time spent on the same bench is the best way to understand each other. If you want to make peace with someone from the household - go to the garden, sit on a bench, have a heart-to-heart talk, and you will surely understand each other.

A secluded corner in the garden

But a bench can be not only a pleasant place to relax in the garden, it can decorate a garden landscape. And here it is very important to find a suitable place for her. This should be the most secluded and well-groomed corner of your garden, so that unnecessary sounds do not come here, and when you look at the vegetable beds, it does not begin to gnaw your conscience about unweed weeds. It is good when a beautiful view of your garden opens up from the bench. Then you can come here not only to relax, but also to admire the creation of your own hands.

It hardly makes sense to install a bench in a too dark place or, conversely, in the sun. The best option is to place it in the shade of trees with an openwork crown.

To rest comfortably on a bench, it must be comfortable itself, so that a person can truly relax on it. This is a very important point, which should not be neglected, otherwise the garden bench runs the risk of becoming simply an element of landscape design.

Sense of style

When choosing a material for a bench, you should think about how it will fit into the style of your garden. Wooden benches look good in a rustic garden with an abundance of bright flowers, fruit trees and garden beds. Benches made of round thin logs or flat boards are especially appropriate here. However, wood is a fairly versatile material. From it you can make benches that are quite classic in outline, which are also suitable for a garden made in a regular or landscape style.

A wrought iron bench is equally good in gardens of different styles, including those where the Art Nouveau style dominates. However, the shapes of the metal benches will still differ: the regular style is characterized by simpler, geometrically correct outlines of lines, Art Nouveau tends to plant elements and viscous ornaments, and fantasy natural motifs are appropriate in a landscape park.

In addition to wood and metal, another very popular material for creating garden benches is stone. True, it is not always possible to sit comfortably on a stone bench: it is often either too cold or too hot on it. But on the other hand, the incomparable aesthetic pleasure of contemplating such benches justifies the inevitable sacrifices.

The stone bench is good both in itself and as part of a landscape composition. Small flat stone benches can be part of an alpine slide or a stone retaining wall. Often, stone benches are decorated with romantic garden grottoes. They look especially good in combination with ferns, groundcover and climbing plants, and the gaps between the stones overgrow with green moss over time. This bench is a real piece of garden art.

Unconventional approach

Recently, non-traditional forms of garden benches have become increasingly popular. For example, garden benches, inside which a flower bed is made from those plants that are not only beautiful, but also have a pleasant aroma or can please a crouching person with a delicious berry.

The bench made of turf looks great. Of course, its construction, and then "maintaining in the desired form" will require some effort. But the costs are minimal, and most importantly - the flight of your imagination is not limited by anything!
