Cucumber care in June

For cucumbers in June, the correct watering regime is extremely important. Seedlings should be watered little by little 2-3 times a week, in no case allowing the soil to dry out. During the beginning of flowering, watering is stopped for several days so that the plants bloom well. Then, as the fruit forms and grows, the frequency of watering and the amount of water is gradually increased.

A good fertilizer for cucumbers in June is Gumi-Omi for pumpkin crops. In addition, the soil on the ridge should be watered with ash infusion 2 times a month, and the plants themselves should be periodically sprayed with urea infusion (1 teaspoon per 10 liters of water). The latter measure, in addition to good growth of healthy leaves, also helps against spider mites.

In the greenhouse, one should not forget about the formation of cucumbers. Twisting of plants and pinching of lateral shoots should be done at least once a week.

On cucumber beds, it is necessary to thin out the seedlings, leaving the largest of them at a distance of at least 15 cm from each other. In this case, the grooves are mulched with fertile soil, since loosening the cucumber beds is not recommended due to the close location of the root system of this crop to the soil surface.

When 5-6 leaves appear (not counting the cotyledons), experienced gardeners pinch the tops of the plants. This accelerates the appearance and growth of lateral lashes, which have significantly more female flowers than the main lash.

Plants at this time are usually not watered, temporary drying of the soil contributes to the formation of ovaries.
